Divers offer their services for free

A company from Walvis Bay has announced that they will offer their rescue services as divers for free to communities that do not have access to these services.
The owner of Monarch Lifeguard and Emergency Services, Marthin Muyenga, said their decision aims to address the critical need for skilled divers in the country.
“In response to the growing demand for search and rescue operations, Monarch offers these services free of charge to the public to help bridge the gap in available divers. Communities that do not have these services available near them can call us and we will go to them,” he said.
He added: "With a team of highly trained divers and six fully equipped certified professionals, we are ready for emergencies nationwide."
"The shortage of divers in our country is a challenge for many communities that face water-related emergencies. By providing this service free of charge, Monarch aims to support local authorities and communities in their efforts to improve safety and security around water bodies,” he added.
He noted that he had already participated in several search and recovery operations along the coast.
“It has become clear that there is an urgent need for more skilled divers to tackle this critical issue. The need extends beyond just coastal towns and even reaches inland areas where emergencies can occur. During the rainy season, the calls for help pour in, which further emphasises the shortage of divers in our country."
The company has since made a significant investment in diving equipment to serve the communities more efficiently in times of need.
“This is my passion and I am committed to continuing to assist in search and recovery efforts and to train and equip more divers to join this important work. Together we can make a significant difference and save lives in our communities."
Furthermore, Monarch divers undergo rigorous training and certification to ensure they are prepared for any situation they may encounter.
"We hope that by offering this service, we can make a positive impact in our country and help save lives and recover materials in times of need. We are eager to work with local communities or organizations to provide this valuable service and contribute to a safer and better prepared society."
