Festive cheer for Senior Park

As festive cheer begins to ripple through Windhoek, the elderly residents of Senior Park were treated to an early Christmas celebration that reminded everyone of the magic found in community spirit.
With hearty meals, lively laughter and dance moves that have only grown better with age, last Saturday’s gathering proved that joy has no expiry date. Supported by sponsors and the success of a recent charity golf day, the event brought smiles, warmth and a touch of holiday sparkle to more than 150 seniors who call Senior Park home.
“We do not get such treats, but I must say, for 2025 we were certainly not forgotten here at Senior Park,” chuckled an elderly resident as he sat on a bench, sharing light-hearted jokes with his friends.
The organisers extended their appreciation to all major sponsors and supporters whose contributions made the event a resounding success. Special thanks to Miko Coffee Namibia and Miko Coffee South Africa for their generous cash donation, as well as Namibia Hospitality and World of Hygiene for their support. Numatics International and DZ Golf provided valuable auction items, while Feedmaster contributed a hamper towards the cause. Securitas and Lientjie van Schoor each made generous cash donations, further strengthening the initiative. The team also recognises Shoprite Checkers for supplying all Christmas decorations, creating a wonderfully festive atmosphere. A big thank you also goes to KFC for sponsoring the meals that brought so many smiles and so much warmth to the seniors.
Their kindness transformed an ordinary Saturday into a memorable celebration filled with love, humour and a strong sense of community.
Residents at Senior Park rely solely on the monthly government pension, making essential items such as food supplies, toiletries and personal care products a constant necessity. Thanks to the funds raised during the golf day held on 21 November, these much-needed items will be purchased and delivered as Christmas gifts to each resident.
One resident, Veronica, who moved into Senior Park just three months ago, expressed her gratitude with a smile. “All we have been receiving here are blessings,” she said. And judging by the vibrant laughter, heartfelt conversations and energetic dance steps filling the hall, it is clear those blessings are shared by all. - [email protected]
