All systems go for Nedbank Citi Dash
Preparations are complete for the sixth edition of the Nedbank Citi Dash, with more than 2,000 runners expected to take to the streets of Windhoek on Sunday, 6 September.
The country’s biggest spring road-running event will be hosted at Windhoek High School’s (WHS) Vegkop Stadium, which will serve as the start and finish venue for the second consecutive year following the event’s successful move there in 2025.
The Nedbank Citi Dash has established itself as a key national platform promoting health, wellness, community connection and active living. This year’s event caters for a wide range of participants, from elite athletes and recreational runners to families, corporate teams and school groups.
The action begins on Saturday, 5 September, with the LiveXpo race village at Vegkop Stadium. The venue will feature health and lifestyle stalls, food and drinks, music and family entertainment.
Race day starts at 07:00 on Sunday with the 10km Elite Run. The race is reserved for competitive athletes who meet the qualifying standards of under 55 minutes for men and 60 minutes for women, with trophies and cash prizes up for grabs.
The 10km Fun Run follows at 07:15, while the 5km Family Run starts at 07:45 and is open to participants of all fitness levels.
All runners who complete their respective races within the designated cut-off times will receive a commemorative finisher medal.
Event organisers have confirmed that all operational preparations are in place, with major road closures planned in parts of the Windhoek CBD to ensure a safe, vehicle-free route for participants.
Event organiser Frank Bombosch said safety remains the event’s highest priority and thanked the City of Windhoek for supporting the road closures. “All logistics are fully in place, and our team is ready to deliver an exceptional, world-class experience for thousands of Namibians this weekend,” Bombosch said.
He urged motorists travelling along or near the race routes to exercise caution and follow traffic instructions throughout the morning.
Nedbank Namibia Manager for Communications and PR Selma Kaulinge said the growing participation of young runners and schools was particularly encouraging.
She praised the organisers for mobilising the community and creating an event that continues to grow while promoting sport, public health and youth development.
Race number collection will take place at the LiveXpo venue at WHS Vegkop Stadium on Saturday, 5 September, from 10:00 to 16:00.
