Beuke pair win betterball competition
Cor Beuke and his son Alandrin Beuke won the Windhoek Golf Club’s betterball competition last Saturday, scoring 44 points over 18 holes.
The competition attracted 36 golfers who tested the fairways in preparation for the Ongos Windhoek Open, scheduled for 17 and 18 October at Windhoek Golf Club.
According to the president of the Namibia Amateur Golf Union (NAGU), Toady Gurirab, the day featured quality golf and resilience as players took to the course ahead of the much-anticipated Windhoek Open.
Beuke senior said: "My son played an exceptional round and I made a crucial put on 18 for us to win with one point. It was a fantastic experience doing it with my son."
Wensley Thompson and Simon Neveling finished second with 43 points, while Ian Wood and John Williams secured third place with 42 points.
The competition also featured lucky draws sponsored by The Corner Butcher, which provided biltong prizes. Gustav Jung, Simbarashe Chitanga and Paul Grobler were among those who received the prizes.
The upcoming Ongos Windhoek Open, organised under the Namibia Amateur Golf Union, will take place over two days and will count towards the national order of merit. Players in the A and B divisions will compete over 54 holes, while C division and stableford participants, including ladies, will play over 36 holes.
