Concord Yellow-ball day proves a big hit
The ever-popular Concord Yellow-ball day proved another success on Saturday, with a field of 36 players taking part in the competition.
Muzvondiwa, Muzuza and Kamenye combined for an impressive 112 points to take first place, while Thomas Wolff, Willie Venter and Bertus Venter finished second on 108 points.
Johnny Borges, Michael De Barros and club president John Sardinha took third place with 104 points.
Nearest to the pin on hole 2/11 was won by Pierre Sowden, while Francois Champion claimed the prize on hole 18.
Two clubs were recorded during the competition by Bertus Venter, Tertius Myburgh, Wayne Hart and Champion.
The club thanked Concord and its team for their sponsorship and for making the day a memorable occasion. Concord has also committed to supporting the event again next year.
In last Wednesday's competition, Hannes Crafford claimed first place with 24 points, followed by Bertus Fokkens on 21 and Sam Nel on 20.
Thursday's seniors competition was won by Robert Moyce on 41 points, with Hoffie Viljoen second on 39 points and Bossie Bosman third on 34 points. Willie van Wyk won the brood prize.
Attention now turns to this Saturday's Multisave Medal, Medal Masters and Medal Mania, with players encouraged to enter their names on the relevant lists.
Players who entered the DMSS Matchplay have also been reminded to complete their matches before 1 October.
The Joker draw added another talking point to the week, with Olaf's name being drawn. Unfortunately for him, he missed out on N$41,000. Players will have another opportunity to enter the draw on Friday.
The course will be closed from 21 to 27 September for maintenance.
The upcoming competition programme includes the Multisave Medal on 19 September, Greens Maintenance on 21 and 26 September, Greenkeepers Revenge on 3 October, Plastic Packaging Individual Stableford on 10 October and Local Sages on 11 October.
