Deep Yellow Namibia backs youth development through 2026 sports festival
Deep Yellow Namibia (DYN) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development by sponsoring the 2026 Deep Yellow Namibia Sports Festival, one of the country's premier youth sporting events, scheduled to take place from 26 to 28 June 2026 at the Vineta Central and Vineta North sports fields in Swakopmund.
The annual festival brings together young athletes from across Namibia for a weekend of soccer and netball competition, providing a platform for talent development, healthy competition and community engagement. This year's event will feature participants ranging from Under-7 soccer players to older youth age groups.
Beyond sport, the festival will also promote awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, encouraging young people to make positive life choices while highlighting sport as a powerful vehicle for discipline, personal growth and social development.
Deep Yellow Namibia Chief Financial Officer Thomas Henderson said the company is proud to support an initiative that creates meaningful opportunities for Namibia's youth.
"We recognise that the future of our nation is shaped by the opportunities we create for young people today. Sport has a unique ability to inspire, unite and empower communities while promoting healthy lifestyles and positive choices. We are proud to support a festival that develops young talent, encourages discipline and teamwork, and continues to grow as an important platform for youth development and community engagement across Namibia."
Festival organiser Elvin Majiedt said the event has grown into a landmark occasion for youth sport in Namibia, attracting increasing participation from communities across the country.
"This festival was created to provide young people with an opportunity to participate in organised sport, develop their talents and build friendships across communities. Over the years, it has grown significantly and now attracts teams and athletes from all over Namibia. Seeing children, especially our youngest participants, enjoying sport and learning valuable life lessons through competition is incredibly rewarding. We are also using this platform to remind our youth that sport offers a positive alternative to the challenges of drug and alcohol abuse."
With participation increasing annually and continued support from communities, sporting bodies and corporate partners, the festival is steadily establishing itself as one of Namibia's flagship youth sporting events.
Adding to the event's strong community partnerships, E-Med Rescue will provide complimentary emergency medical services throughout the festival, ensuring the safety and well-being of players, officials and spectators.
The official opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at 10:00 at the Vineta Central Sports Field, celebrating the power of sport to shape young lives, strengthen communities and inspire the next generation.
