Desert Rollers Sport Club has announced that preparations are at an advanced stage for its highly anticipated Annual Awards Evening, scheduled for Saturday, 8 August 2026, at BT Health Plaza in Gobabis.

The event will celebrate the club's achievements during the 2025/26 season, recognising outstanding performances by its players while also paying tribute to former players, officials, supporters and sponsors whose dedication has played a vital role in shaping the proud history of Desert Rollers.

"A major highlight of this year's ceremony will be the launch of the Legacy Award Sponsorship Initiative, an exciting new programme that will see former club legends sponsor and present various award categories," the club said in a statement.

The initiative aims to strengthen the bond between past and present generations while preserving the club's rich heritage for years to come.

According to the organising committee, planning for the event is progressing well. Key preparations, including securing award sponsors, inviting distinguished guests, organising entertainment, catering, fundraising activities and finalising event logistics, are all well underway.

The committee added that further details regarding ticket sales, sponsorship opportunities and the official programme for the evening will be announced in the coming weeks.

Desert Rollers Sport Club has encouraged members, supporters, former players and friends of the club to rally behind the event and contribute in any way possible to ensure its success.

The Annual Awards Evening promises to be a memorable occasion that not only celebrates excellence on the field but also honours the individuals who have built the club's legacy while inspiring the next generation of Desert Rollers.

"It is important to give the players the recognition they deserve," the organisers said.

"This team is historic and has produced players who have gone on to represent the country at the highest level.

"For this reason, we have to continue preserving the legacy."
