Eichab targets Tigers revival on top-flight return
Newly appointed Tigers coach Fortune Eichab has set his sights on reviving the club as they prepare to return to the Namibia Premier Football League for the 2026-27 season.
Tigers were relegated last season but have made an immediate return to the top flight after acquiring the Premier League status of Young African.
The club was coached by Brian Isaacs and Woody Jacobs during the campaign that ended in relegation, but Eichab has now been handed the task of rebuilding the side ahead of the new season.
“It is a great opportunity for me, and what is important is to transform the fortunes of the football club.
“Tigers faced a tough time last season, and my job is to make sure that we give our best in order to rejuvenate the football club.
“It is early days, and there is still so much to be done, but I am positive that the club will bounce back to its glory days,” Eichab told Sport Wrap yesterday.
Previous spells
Eichab previously coached Khomas Nampol before his spell with the police side came to an acrimonious end.
He also had a stint with Tura Magic, now Ongos FC, before joining Khomas Nampol.
The experienced coach now takes charge of a Tigers side looking to recover from a difficult campaign.
Tigers won only six of their 30 league matches last season, while recording nine draws and 15 defeats to finish third from bottom in a campaign won by African Stars.
Eichab acknowledged the size of the task ahead as clubs begin preparations for the new season.
“I know that the task ahead will not be easy at all because all the teams in the league are obviously preparing for a strong season.
“All we have to do is maintain a positive attitude to ensure that we get the team to gel. Like I said, as a coach, I am happy to have taken up this challenge,” Eichab said.
