Futsal NFA Cup heads to last 16

The Namibia Football Association (NFA) Futsal Cup round of 16 will kick off today, with three exciting matches scheduled at the Windhoek Showgrounds.

Samba Boys FC will open the knockout stage against Ballers FC at 20:00, before Ineos FC takes on EFG Patriots FC at 21:00. The final match of the evening will see Selecao FC face Windhoek Futsal at 22:00.

The remaining five Round of 16 fixtures will be played on Sunday. Woodsoccer FC will meet Ragazzi FC at 15:00, followed by Julinho FC against Chile FC at 16:00. Maxi FC and X-Men FC will battle for a quarterfinal place at 17:00, while Demia FC will face Quality FC at 18:00.

The last match of the round of 16 will see WIAS FC go head-to-head with Boston Madrid FC at 19:00.

With a place in the quarterfinals at stake, teams will be aiming to keep their title hopes alive in what promises to be an action-packed weekend of futsal competition.


Journey to round of 16

The teams in the round of 16 first competed in the round of 32 last weekend.

Glamour Boys are in the round of 16, following a 3-0 victory over Emirates FC, while Windhoek FC cruised past Green FC with a convincing 7-0 win to book their place in this weekend's matches.

Samba Boys FC also booked their place in the next round after edging Saints FC 2-1.

Flying Fives cemented their place in this weekend's matches after overpowering 247Fitness FC 4-1, while Ongos FC defeated Young Ballers FC 3-2 in a closely contested encounter. 

Leucite FC progressed with a 3-0 victory over Goais FC, Selecao FC eliminated Al Noor FC 2-1, and Woodsoccer FC secured a 5-2 win against HTB FC.

The competition intensified on 15 June as teams battled for the remaining places in the round of 16.

 Samba Boys FC continued their impressive run by defeating Mbare FC 2-1, while Selecao FC produced one of the performances of the tournament, thrashing JAC FC 7-1.

Julinho FC announced themselves as serious contenders with an emphatic 8-2 victory over Windhoek FC. Woodsoccer FC maintained their momentum by overcoming Mavericks FC 3-1, while Maxi FC comfortably beat Leucite FC 5-1.

Ineos FC earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Ongos FC, and Demia FC delivered the biggest win of the round, hammering Glamour Boys FC 9-2. 

WIAS FC and Flying Fives FC produced the match of the tournament so far, with WIAS emerging victorious in a thrilling 6-5 encounter.
