The INDONGO TOYOTA Golf Day was held at the club last weekend, attracting a strong field of 40 participants despite a slow start. The event was contested as a better-ball competition, with a twist, a bonus hole on each nine where both players’ scores counted. The draw for the bonus holes was conducted by Anton van Rensburg, who drew hole 2, only to experience a blackout with partner Hannes Crafford. Hole 11 was the other designated bonus hole.
Taking full advantage of the bonus holes, Nardo Sardinha and Koot Potgieter finished with 43 points and, with two bonus points, secured first place on 45. Second place went to Joe Hermann and Pieter van Aarde, also with 43 points but only one bonus point. Thomas Wolff and Bertus Venter were third, using four bonus points to reach 44, but narrowly missing out on the count-out.
Thomas Wolff also claimed the closest-to-the-pin prize, landing his ball within two feet (60 cm), though his subsequent putt fell just short. Two clubs were recorded by Kevin de Reuck, Sandro de Gouveia, Bertus Venter, Schalk van Wyk, and Andre Burger, each earning N$50 for their efforts.
In line with the sponsors’ request, participants donated tins of food for distribution, with a total of 94 cans collected. At the prize-giving, Amos Ferris highlighted the availability of the latest TOYOTA models and confirmed that INDONGO TOYOTA would return for next year’s event. The organisers were commended for their support, including Diana, Amos, Dewald, and their team.
Looking ahead, the next fundraiser is the popular CHAIN Day, with entry details already circulated. This weekend, NAMIB DIESEL will host the Par 3 competition, a medal event with a unique format.
In last week’s Seniors competition, Bossie Bosman triumphed with 37 points, followed by Ken Roberts on 33 and Andre Burger on 32. Tee-off is at 08:30 every Thursday.
The Joker draw concluded last week when Anton van Rensburg finally had his number selected, only to reveal the 4 of Clubs, leaving N$27,500 unclaimed. The Joker will be available again this week, offering another chance to win.
