Inaugural FNB volleyball tourney set for Swakopmund
The Swakopmund Volleyball Academy and First National Bank (FNB) Namibia invite corporate and social teams to compete in a four-a-side tournament on 30 May, with proceeds supporting Ruach Elohim and Namibia Ocean Conservation.
The inaugural FNB “Let’s Play Volleyball” Tournament at the SFC Sports Grounds in Swakopmund. Sponsored by FNB Namibia, the event is open to corporate and social teams alike and promises a full day of sport, community and family entertainment.
Teams of up to six players, four on court at any time with two substitutes, can register at N$2 500 per team. A key condition of play is that a minimum of one female player must be on court at all times, making this a truly inclusive competition that reflects the spirit of the game.
Prize money
The tournament features two competitive streams, each with its own prize money allocation.
The Pro Division offers a total prize pool of N$20 000, while the Social or Corporate Division carries N$11 000 in prizes, giving competitive and recreational players alike the chance to play for real rewards.
Pro Division: 1 N$10 000, 2 N$6 000, 3 N$4 000.
Social or Corporate Division: 1 N$6 000, 2 N$3 000, 3 N$2 000.
“We want this to be more than just a tournament. It is a celebration of sport, community spirit, and the people and causes that make Swakopmund a special place to live,” said the Swakopmund Volleyball Academy.
Activities for the entire family
Beyond the volleyball itself, the day will feature a full programme of activities for the entire family, ensuring that supporters, children and spectators have as much to enjoy as the players on court.
Proceeds from the tournament will be shared between two meaningful causes: Ruach Elohim and Namibia Ocean Conservation, organisations making a tangible difference in the Swakopmund community and along the Namibian coastline.
The Namibia Beach Volleyball Hub (NBVH) will serve as the official media partner for the event, providing media coverage, digital promotion, and press distribution on behalf of the Swakopmund Volleyball Academy.
