Kandi celebrates golf tournament launch
Kandi Namibia has marked its official golf cart launch with a successful tournament that brought together 15 teams for a day of golf, networking and celebration.
The event held at Omeya Golf Club south of Windhoek last Saturday also saw the first Kandi golf cart sold through auction, marking an important milestone for the brand’s introduction to the Namibian market.
The tournament provided an opportunity for participants and guests to experience the Kandi brand while learning more about the company’s range of electric golf carts and utility vehicles.
Kandi offers a variety of electric golf carts, ranging from two-seater to six-seater models in standard and premium options. The company currently has approximately seven golf cart models, as well as four-wheel-drive electric vehicles designed for agricultural and utility applications.
Eugene Swart of Kandi South Africa explained that Kandi’s vehicles are manufactured in China, with an additional manufacturing plant in the United States. The company has also established a growing presence in the electric vehicle market.
Opportunities in tourism, agriculture and golf
According to Swart, electric vehicles offer opportunities for businesses and property owners looking for alternatives to petrol-powered transport.
With solar power systems becoming increasingly common on farms and properties, electric vehicles can potentially be charged using renewable energy, helping to reduce fuel dependency and maintenance costs.
Kandi is targeting the Namibian tourism and golf markets, including lodges that require vehicles for guest transportation. The company is also exploring opportunities in agriculture, airports and other sectors where electric utility vehicles could provide practical solutions.
The range includes utility vehicles with rear cargo beds, which may be suitable for businesses requiring transport and operational support.
The tournament winners
The golf tournament was a highlight of the launch, with 15 teams participating in a day filled with sporting competition and networking.
The Kandi Namibia team, with Gerard Erasmus, Vitor Azevedo, Manfred Egerer and Derek Sansom rose as winners and walked away with a massive prize, a getaway from Xaudaum Lodge.
In second place was Suide Vleis, with golfers Keady Strauss, Basjan van der Merwe, Morne Blaauw and Jean Erasmus. They won a trip to Timbila of N/a’an ku sê.
In third place was Leojo Chemicals with Lukas Dreyer, Mario Reiter, Freddie Oosthuizen and Anton Kuhn. They will enjoy a getaway to Simanya River Lodge.
The successful tournament and auction sale of the first Kandi golf cart was a joyous moment. Kandi Namibia will continue exploring opportunities to introduce electric mobility solutions to customers across the country.
