Karting championship thrills in Windhoek

The sixth leg of the Karting Championship concluded over the weekend at the Tony Rust Race Track in Windhoek, delivering thrilling racing action as drivers vied for vital points in the final stages of the season. The event showcased Namibia’s emerging karting talent across multiple categories.
In the DD 2 category, karting sensation Adriaan Nel dominated proceedings, recording 35 points in heat one, 32 in heat two, and another 35 in the final heat, amassing a total of 102 points. Nel also posted the fastest lap of the competition at 33.147 seconds. “I am pretty much satisfied with the racing today and happy with the way it turned out. My aim is to continue racing well and representing the country at bigger competitions,” Nel said. He was followed by Eric Krugel, who totaled 92 points, while Zain Beuthin finished third with 67 points.
In the Senior Max category, James van der Heever emerged victorious with 105 points. Closely trailing was Chucky van Dyk with 96 points, while Dylan Zandberg claimed third with 89 points.
The Junior Max category had a single competitor, Caleb Esterhuizen, who earned 60 points. In Mini Max, Gury Dos Santos led the field with 105 points, ahead of Cecil Koorts (94) and Joubert Esbach (91).
In the Micro Max category, sole competitor Russel Josephat scored 60 points to secure first place. Meanwhile, the Bambino class saw Rocco van Eeden dominate with 105 points, followed by Zian Nel (96) and Luna Dos Santos (90).
Other notable results included Mini Rock U10, won by Mila Botha (92) ahead of Miko Botha (64), and Mini Rock, where Cecil Koorts topped the standings with 99 points, followed by Wian Schouw (92) and Herman Schouw (70).
As the season nears its conclusion, the Tony Rust Race Track once again highlighted Namibia’s dedication to nurturing future karting stars and set the stage for an exciting finale in the championship.
