The standout result from the latest round of the Central North Volleyball Association (CNVA) League came as NamPol Otjozondjupa Ladies were crowned women’s section champions in Grootfontein last weekend.

The round saw teams battle for crucial points as the league entered the closing stages of the season. In the decisive match of the women’s title race, NamPol Ladies sealed the championship with a 3-0 victory over Grootfontein (25-22, 25-12, 25-22).

The victory moved the side to the top of the women’s standings with 15 points from five matches. NamPol have dominated the division this season, winning all five of their matches without dropping a set.

The other women’s division result saw Grootfontein register their first victory of the season after outlasting Okakarara 3-2 in a closely contested five-set encounter (25-19, 13-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-12).

Mighty Gunners remain dominant

In the men’s division, table-topping Namibian Defence Force (NDF) Mighty Gunners completed a double to retain control of the league with 28 points from 10 matches.

In the headline men’s encounter of the day, NDF Mighty Gunners defeated third-placed Grootfontein 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 27-25, 25-22). Mighty Gunners followed up that victory by beating B2Gold 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 16-25, 25-13).

The two victories left the league leaders six points clear of second-placed NamPol Otjozondjupa.

Elsewhere in the men’s division, NamPol Otjozondjupa routed Eleven Warriors 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-12).
