The Central Volleyball Association (CVA) League men’s section has once again witnessed a one-sided season, with NamPower securing back-to-back title victories.
In the league’s penultimate match played on Wednesday evening at Ramatex Hall in Windhoek’s Otjomuise, the undefeated defending champions overcame the University of Namibia (Unam) Kings in straight sets (3-0).
The result confirmed NamPower’s overall victory on 52 points with two matches to spare, ahead of the league’s final matches at the same venue tomorrow.
They will round off the season against City of Windhoek and second-placed Namibian Defence Force (NDF) Hurricanes.

Second-best Hurricanes
NDF Hurricanes also have two matches left, the other against Unam Kings, but their second place on the log is locked at 45 points. Even if they win both matches in straight sets, they can only reach 51 points.
NamPower’s unbeaten run this season mirrors last year’s performance, when they stormed to victory undefeated to secure the club’s first title since 2018.
The win also books their place at the prestigious Bank Windhoek Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) Cup, to be held from 10 to 12 October in Windhoek. They fell short at the same event last season, squandering their national league hopes.
At last year’s NVF Cup, NamPower, one of the top two men’s and women’s teams across all national leagues to qualify, lost to Afrocat C in the final. Afrocat C has since been promoted to the MTC Volleyball National League (VNL).

‘Prevailed, as always’
Reflecting on another title run, NamPower captain David Katoma, who has been deliberate in leading his team to victories, could not hide his pride.
“It has not been an easy season, but we prevailed, as always. The sacrifices, determination and hard work finally paid off,” he said.
However, he stressed that the team is not easing up just yet.
“We still have two games to go and we are working towards maintaining our unbeaten record,” he added.

A promise kept
Katoma reflects with pride on a promise kept when he set out in April to return the club to its “formidable glory days.”
“I am very happy to be captain of this incredible team. This is just the beginning of an amazing journey that is ahead of us,” he said.
The CVA League will conclude its men’s matches with City of Windhoek taking on Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) Falcons, Kudos facing Afrocat D and Training Establishment up against Nust Blazers.
Afrocat E will have the busiest final day, starting with a derby against Afrocat D before facing Nust Falcons and Training Establishment.

All to play for in women’s clashes
Wednesday evening also featured one of the women’s penultimate matches, where Deutscher Turn- und Sportverein (DTS) hosted City of Windhoek and won in straight sets (3-0).
Tomorrow’s women’s matches will be decisive, with everything to play for.
The two top teams, DTS (36 points, one match in hand) and Afrocat Ladies (34 points, two matches in hand), have each lost just once all season. Only one will walk away with the title.
Afrocat Ladies will open against Unam Queens B, a must-win to stay in the title race, before taking on DTS in what promises to be a nail-biting season finale.
Other women’s matches will see Nust take on City Warriors before closing their season against Revivals.
Afrocat Titans, who secured their first win last weekend when they edged City of Windhoek 3-2, will be chasing a second victory when they face Unam Queens B.
