NVF equips 24 aspiring coaches
The Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) trained 24 participants from Windhoek, Swakopmund, Okakarara, Keetmanshoop and Gobabis during its coaching course in the capital last weekend.
The two-day course focused on the fundamentals of volleyball coaching, including player development, technical and tactical instruction, training planning, communication and athlete safety.
It brought together corporate and social league coaches, teachers, aspiring coaches and volleyball enthusiasts seeking to improve their knowledge of the game and ability to lead teams.
NVF chief executive officer Festus Hamukwaya said the course formed part of the federation’s efforts to strengthen the country’s coaching capacity.
“We aimed to broaden the development of volleyball across clubs, schools, workplaces and communities,” he said.
He noted that the participation of individuals from five towns demonstrated growing interest in coaching development beyond Windhoek.
Necessary skills
Hamukwaya said providing coaches with the necessary skills and confidence was important to creating a stronger foundation for player development.
NVF coaches director Anthony Likando and corporate director Albert Khevare facilitated the course and shared their technical and practical expertise with the participants.
Hamukwaya thanked the participants for their commitment and acknowledged the stakeholders who supported the programme.
He also encouraged those who completed the course to apply the knowledge gained within their clubs, schools, workplaces and communities.
