Penduka powers Uuthiya annual sports tourney
The Uuthiya Annual Sports Tournament is set to make a highly anticipated return later this month, with organisers unveiling an expanded second edition featuring increased prize money and two competitive football divisions.
The tournament, sponsored by Penduka, will take place at Uuthiya Sports Stadium in Oshitayi, just outside Ondangwa, from 31 July to 2 August 2026.
Following the success of its inaugural edition, this year's event promises more excitement, greater competition, and opportunities for both young and veteran footballers.
The inaugural tournament in 2025 proved to be a major success, with Mulan FC lifting the first-ever floating trophy after defeating OKWE FC in an entertaining final.
Mongolo FC and Young Stars FC rounded off the top four, while Mulan captain Junior Shaanika Dave Johannes was named Player of the Tournament. Goalkeeper Seth walked away with the Golden Glove award after an impressive campaign.
Building on that momentum, organisers have introduced two separate competitions for 2026: a Youth Football Division and a Legends Football Division.
Teams wishing to participate in either category will be required to pay an entry fee of N$1 000 before the tournament begins.
Prize money
The Youth Division offers the biggest rewards, with the champions set to receive the floating trophy, 18 gold medals and N$10 000.
The runners-up will earn 18 silver medals and N$6 000, while the third and fourth-placed teams will each receive N$3 000.
Meanwhile, the Legends Division is reserved strictly for players aged 35 years and above, with identity documents required during registration to ensure eligibility.
The winners will receive N$4 500, runners-up N$2 500, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will each take home N$1 500.
One of the major additions to this year's tournament is the introduction of Man of the Match cash awards.
From the quarter-finals onwards, outstanding performers in every knockout fixture will receive a cash prize, rewarding individual excellence during the business end of the competition.
Individual honours
Players will also compete for individual honours, including Player of the Tournament, Best Goalkeeper, and Top Goal Scorer, with each winner receiving a trophy.
With increased prize money, expanded competition and strong sponsorship from Penduka, the 2026 Uuthiya Annual Sports Tournament is expected to attract more teams and supporters than ever before.
Defending champions Mulan FC will return hoping to retain their title, while last year's finalists OKWE FC, as well as Mongolo FC, Young Stars FC and several new challengers, will all be aiming to write their own chapter in the tournament's growing history.
