Red Run draws 2 600 participants
The 2026 Bank Windhoek Red Run attracted 2 600 participants to Windhoek over the weekend, with athletes competing in the 10 km and 21 km races for a share of N$70 000 in prize money.
The event brought together competitive and social runners across the junior, senior, veteran, master and grandmaster categories.
21 km honours
Jeremia Shaliaxwe won the men’s 21 km race in 1:11:49.08, followed by Tangeni Sakaria in 1:12:49.03 and Matheus Kadhingula in 1:13:25.86.
Anna Amutoko claimed the women’s title in 1:28:33.24, ahead of Jolynde Human in 1:34:39.21 and Maike Epler in 1:37:39.99.
The age-group winners included Teagan Van Wyk in the junior men’s 21 km, Birgit Hoffmann and Achim Herma in the grandmaster 60–69 divisions, Heidi Greyvenstein and Salomo David in the master 50–59 categories, and Amutoko and Kadhingula in the veteran 40–49 divisions.
Close 10 km finish
Asser Nalukaku edged Enock Haufiku in a closely contested men’s 10 km race, winning in 30:55.56.
Haufiku crossed the line in 30:56.16, while Mathew Angula finished third in 30:57.16.
Tuuliki Angala won the women’s race in 34:11.70, followed by Ndahambelela Ivonne Shelikita in 37:26.60 and Beata Naigambo in 37:57.96.
Titus Endjambi claimed the junior men’s 10 km title, while Saaili Nelago Mupupa won the junior women’s race.
Other age-group winners included Derick Loteryman, Elmarie Peters, Erasmus Frans, Silke Ahrens, Malakia Namukomba and Shelikita.
Bank Windhoek head of strategic communication and social impact Bronwyn Moody congratulated the winners.
