Rehoboth player wins trip to rugby's biggest rivalry
Rehoboth Rugby Club player Dihlen Daries has been crowned the winner of the inaugural Sport Wrap Ultimate Rugby Experience, earning an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Cape Town to watch South Africa take on New Zealand in one of rugby's biggest international fixtures.
The campaign, organised by Sport Wrap in partnership with Synergy Marketing, First National Bank of Namibia (FNB Namibia) and Rennies Travel, concluded this week after a two-month prediction competition that ran alongside the NRU Premier League season.
Supporters were challenged to predict the winning margins of every Premier League fixture throughout the campaign. Fans entered either through the competition chatbot or by submitting predictions at match venues with on-site activators, accumulating points over the course of the season.
The competition culminated with three finalists, who gathered for the grand finale where each selected one of three sealed envelopes. One envelope contained the coveted golden ticket to Cape Town.
Daries emerged as the lucky winner, securing the opportunity to experience the highly anticipated Springboks versus All Blacks Test live while enjoying accommodation and travel arranged by the competition partners.
Speaking during the finale, Johan Geldenhuys of Synergy Marketing thanked the campaign's partners for making the initiative possible and praised the public for their enthusiastic participation throughout the competition.
"It has been about two months since we launched the campaign. Every weekend supporters predicted the score differences in the NRU Premier League, either through our chatbot or by engaging with our activators at the matches. It all came down to today, and we are excited to reward one lucky supporter with an unforgettable rugby experience," he said.
Revonia Job, Group Corporate Social Investment Manager at First National Bank of Namibia, said the campaign reflected FNB Namibia's ongoing commitment to supporting sport and creating memorable experiences for communities.
"Sport brings people together. It is important for us to support sport from grassroots to the highest level. We are proud to be part of a campaign that gives supporters an opportunity to create lifelong memories," she said.
She also congratulated all three finalists and encouraged the winner to enjoy the occasion and share the experience with fellow Namibians upon returning home.
The Sport Wrap Ultimate Rugby Experience was designed to increase supporter engagement throughout the domestic rugby season while rewarding loyal fans with a once-in-a-lifetime international rugby experience.
For Daries, months of accurate predictions have now been rewarded with the chance to witness one of world rugby's greatest rivalries from the stands in Cape Town.
