The 2025 MTC Volleyball National League concluded at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund on Saturday, with defending champions Revivals Volleyball Club and Namibia Correctional Service (NCS) retaining their national titles in the women’s and men’s divisions respectively. The season finale marked the end of an eight-round national campaign featuring 16 teams — eight men’s and eight women’s — representing clubs from across Namibia.
Both winning teams received trophies, gold medals and N$40 000 cash prizes from title sponsor MTC.
The Revivals Volleyball Club women secured their second consecutive title following a consistent campaign that saw them dominate throughout the season.
In the men’s division, NCS once again proved their depth and experience, overcoming strong competition to defend their championship.
Third place in both divisions went to NamPol Volleyball Club, who also received N$10 000, airtime vouchers, and other sponsored prizes.
NCS’ two-year unbeaten league run however ended when NamPol beat them in a five-set tiebreak during the round.
NDF Phoenixes finished as women’s runners-up, while NamPol took bronze for a second year in a row.
The event brought together Namibia’s top volleyball clubs, with representation from the Namibia Defence Force (NDF), Namibia Police (NamPol) and Namibia Correctional Service, alongside community clubs including Revivals, Six Stars, Ball Busters, Afrocat, Kudos, Calvary Eagles, Keetmanshoop Correctional Facility and UNAM teams.
MTC’s funding increases
During the closing ceremony, Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) president Tobias Mwatelulo commended athletes, officials and sponsors for their commitment to the league’s growth. He highlighted the collaboration between the NVF and the country’s uniformed forces, which has helped provide employment and development opportunities for players.
“Thanks to our sponsors and the support from the forces, volleyball continues to grow and provide opportunities to many young athletes across the country,” Matelulo said.
MTC’s head of events coordination, Bertha Nangombe, announced an increase in sponsorship funding from N$1 million to N$1.3 million for the upcoming 2026 season, reaffirming the company’s commitment to developing Namibian sport.
The teams in uniform – NDF, Nampol and NCS – also reaffirmed their ongoing support for volleyball as a tool for discipline, teamwork and youth empowerment.
The 2025 league finale confirmed the relegation for Ball Busters Volleyball Club, Nampol Otjiwarongo Volleyball Club, Keetmanshoop Correctional Facility Volleyball Club and Mighty Gunners Volleyball Club, who will all return to regional leagues to regroup for future seasons.
