Smith tops Momentum Series third round
Wouter Smith produced the standout performance at the third round of the Momentum Kids Golf Series, carding 36 to claim overall honours at Windhoek Golf Course on Monday.
The event drew a field of 47 junior golfers across U7 to U19 age divisions. The series aims to provide young players with regular competitive exposure and a structured pathway for junior golf development.
Several promising performances were recorded across the age divisions.
In the U19 boys’ division, Prince Kahimise and Luan Brand both recorded scores of 40, with Jean Husselman finishing third on 43.
The U15 boys’ division produced one of the most competitive leaderboards of the day, with Dian Holland-Muter and Nicklai Janse van Vuuren both carding 38. JP le Grange followed on 41, while Caleb Volschenk finished on 42.
The U13 boys’ division was won by Marcel Stiemert, who scored 43, with Paul Kapia second on 54 and Dylan De Meyer third on 56.
In the U13 girls’ division, Zahnri Delport finished first with 56, followed by Kelly Zhang on 58.
Hanru Botes finished first in the U11 boys’ division with 43. Cyrus Basson followed with 46, while Keanu du Preez placed third with 50.
In the U11 girls’ division, Liuyiduo Lu claimed first place with 55, followed by Imari Bravenboer on 63.
The U9 boys’ division was won by Janko de Klerk, who carded 47, with Robert Bravenboer and Milano Eiseb both finishing on 49.
Ndahafa Nambahu won the U9 girls’ section with 56, ahead of Ané le Grange on 68.
In the U7 boys’ division, Ashley Zinyakatira finished first with a score of 63.
Promising junior golf future
Tournament director Damian da Silva said the third round once again highlighted the growing strength of junior golf in the country.
“Competing golfers showed strong discipline, confidence and sportsmanship on the course. The success of the third round is a testament to the promising future of junior golf,” he said.
Da Silva further extended gratitude to players, parents, coaches and supporters for their contribution to what he described as a successful round of competitive golf.
“We would also like to thank Momentum for its continued sponsorship of the series and Windhoek Golf Club for hosting the tournament. Such support creates opportunities for young golfers to compete, improve and grow within the game,” said Da Silva.
