Sparta advance to semi-finals

Walvis Bay’s Sparta Rugby Club narrowly beat Vipers Rugby Club 30-26 in their first division semi-final in Windhoek at Parkies Rugby Field on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Ocean Swallows defeated the visiting Eastern Bulls of Gobabis 35-17 during their semi-final in Lüderitz, to advance to the final against Sparta.
The Vipers trailed 17-0 at half-time but scored 26 points in the second half.
The Windhoek side threw everything they had at the visitors, but in the end, they could not outsmart them.
With about ten minutes left on the clock, Sparta was leading 25-19. The home side smelled victory and led one attack after another, but from broken play, Sparta increased their lead with a try but could not convert the conversion.
The Vipers did not back down and answered with their own five-pointer that was converted by Luandru Oberholzer for the final score.
For Sparta: Ronaldo Britzze, Jenery Xamseb, Ethan Feris, Ridahwaan Mouton and Eldrich Losper each scored one try for their tally of five. Faven Visagie slotted a conversion and Stuart McAlpine a penalty goal.
For Vipers: Kevin Kadhila, Willem Richter, Shaquille Emamdien and Ginaldo Rivanne each scored a try. Luandru Oberholzer converted three of the four.
The final is scheduled to be played in Windhoek on 3 September.
