The coastal venue of Swakopmund Fistball Club (SFC) is looking forward to hosting another tournament of the Namibia Fistball Association this coming weekend. It will the fourth tournament this year and will take place on Saturday as teams battle for top honours and bragging rights.
The teams will compete in three categories, with a total of 14 teams ready to challenge each other in these important encounters.
Fistball spokesperson Helmo Minz is inviting enthusiasts to come in their numbers and support the event.
“The first matches of this competition will kick off at 08:30, with some incredible games expected.
“In the under-18 youth category, two teams each from SKW and SFC, along with one team from Cohen Fistball Club (CFC), will compete for the title.
“SFC A enters the competition as defending champions,” an excited Minz told Sport Wrap.
In the A category, SKW and the host team SFC will face off with one team each against two teams from CFC.
CFC 1 won the opening tournament and all three previous tournaments.
“Their fellow club mates CFC 2 reached the finals of the tournament three weeks ago and are hoping for the same feat. The host team, SFC, will not have its full roster available and will be without two key starters this weekend,” Minz said.
It remains to be seen how record champions SKW 1 will fare, having finished last in the previous two tournaments.
The B category features five teams. SKW 3 enters the tournament as title favourites, having won the last two tournaments.
“SKW 2, CFC 2, SFC 2 and SFC complete the field. On Sunday, the extended national squads for women, U18 boys and men will meet for a training session.”
