United end Grootfontein's unbeaten run as Kudus cruise
FNB Kudus delivered another statement performance in the Namibia Rugby Union Premier League on Saturday, while FNB United handed FNB Grootfontein their first defeat of the season.
At Jan Wilken Stadium, Kudus ran in 11 tries to secure a commanding 73-5 victory over FNB Reho Falcons.
The Walvis Bay outfit dominated from the outset and never allowed their opponents into the contest, combining clinical attacking rugby with a disciplined defensive effort.
Tries for Kudus came from Aston Mukwiilongo, Divan Steyn, Tonderai Ndudzo, Lucio Isaacs, Ja-Tamson van der Borg, Lezardo Vos, Franco Vries, Utaara Uaaka and Kyle Wentzel, while scrumhalf Ray Shawn Shoombe crossed the whitewash twice.
Flyhalf Aurelio Plato added six conversions and replacement AJ Kearns slotted three more. Reho Falcons' only points came through left wing Matthew van Wyk.
United overcome Grootfontein
Elsewhere, United continued their impressive form by ending Grootfontein's unbeaten start to the campaign.
Flank Thehard Lintvelt once again proved influential, scoring two tries and converting both as he maintained his excellent form this season. Jurgen Meyer, who was deployed at fullback, also got on the scoresheet as United claimed a significant victory that could have major implications for the race at the top of the standings.
FNB Wanderers also enjoyed a productive afternoon, running in 10 tries in a dominant display.
Flyhalf Dominic Isaacs and hooker Edward Drotsky each scored two tries, while second-row forward Kisting Minyoi also crossed the line twice. Obert Nortje continued his impressive try-scoring form by adding another five-pointer after scoring a hat-trick the previous weekend.
Meanwhile, Miquel Busch inspired FNB Rehoboth to victory with an outstanding all-round performance.
Busch crossed for a try and was reliable from the kicking tee, converting three tries and adding three penalties as Rehoboth secured an important win.
The latest round of fixtures further tightened the battle for positions on the Premier League table, with several teams strengthening their credentials as the season approaches its midway stage.
