The third edition of the Vivo Energy Windhoek Marathon takes place tomorrow, with over 4 300 runners expected to participate across the 5 km, 10 km, half-marathon, and full marathon categories.
Vivo Energy Namibia’s spokesperson Lazarus Nafidi said the event has grown significantly and continues to serve a greater purpose beyond sport.
“This year’s proceeds will go towards installing solar street lights in crime-prone areas, helping create safer neighbourhoods,” he said.
Over the past two years, nearly N$400 000 has been raised through the marathon, funding community libraries and sanitation hubs in underserved areas of Windhoek.
Vendors and SMEs will be present at the start and finish area to provide food, drinks, and products, adding to the festive atmosphere.
“Every runner this year is contributing to a brighter, safer Windhoek,” Nafidi said.
