Volschenk edges Le Grange in Momentum playoff

Caleb Volschenk held his nerve in a sudden-death playoff against JP le Grange to claim the overall honours in round seven of the Momentum Kids Golf Series at Windhoek Golf Club on Monday.

The pair finished regulation tied on 37 before returning to the 18th hole to settle the contest.

Volschenk carded a five on the playoff hole, while Le Grange finished with a six to hand the former the overall title.

Le Grange was nevertheless named the under-15 boys champion, with Volschenk taking the runner-up spot in the division.


Divisional winners

Away from the playoff drama, the tournament also produced winners across the junior age groups.

Ashley Zinyakatira topped the under-seven boys category with 49, while Ndahafa Nambahu won the under-nine girls section with 46.

Robert Bravenboer took the under-nine boys honours with 44, while Imari Bravenboer won the under-11 girls category after carding 52.

Keanu du Preez led the under-11 boys on 49, with Hanru Botes winning the under-13 boys division on 44.

Mikaela Eiseb finished first in the under-13 girls category with 61, while Zahnri Delport took the under-15 girls honours with 53.

Wouter Smith topped the under-19 boys division after returning a score of 41.


Junior development

Tournament director and DSA Golf Academy founder Damian da Silva thanked Momentum for its continued backing of the junior series, which he said has supported junior golf development over the past four years.
