Windhoek to host premier motorcycling event
The Gallina Motocross Park near Windhoek will act as the host of Africa’s biggest motocross events on 29 and 30 August.
Top riders from across the continent are expected to line up and represent their countries in the Motocross of African Nations (MXoAN).
In an information brochure to riders, the Namibia Motorsport Federation (NMSF), Namibian Sports Commission, the International Motorsport Federation (FIM) and Gallina invited riders to “compete on a challenging and exciting track in the heart of Namibia”.
“With national pride on the line, fans can expect close racing, big jumps and plenty of action across the weekend,” the South African motorsport federation, Motorsport South Africa (MSA), said in a media release.
The MXoAN is hosted by the Windhoek Motor Club and is expected to host five junior classes, of which two will be exclusively female classes, three senior classes and three Women's Motorcross (WMX) classes.
The vets and master classes are expected to race together while the WMX class may yet be split into WMX pro and WMX ladies classes at the discretion of the jury.
The Chairperson for motorcycling under the NMSF’s Motoring Commission and 2024 NMSF motorsport hall of fame inductee Andreas Brendel is expected to act as clerk of the course for the duration of the weekend.
