A busy birthday bash at DTS

The lawn is ruined, were the words of the President of the German Gymnastics and Sports Club (DTS) when asked that the green already looks pretty battered.
But that wasn't the topic of the day, because the “Volleyball for All” event was a huge success again – just like the years before.
It was about winning the tournament, which was also a success this year, and featured a changed format. Only the best two teams were able to qualify for the knockout round and then move on to the next round with 64 teams remaining.
In the final round, the games were also played for time. In the end, the NamPower team prevailed, defeating Namdia in the final. The team from LEFA took the third position.
Another innovation on the programme was the announcement of the “Worst Player of the Tournament”.
In addition, the DTS supported both a team and an orphanage with N$5 000 each.
Once again, almost everyone who is a member of the club was involved in hosting the event, whether at the cash register, at the bar or on the line as a referee.
All in all, as in previous years, it was a successful sporting event, which was evident from the smiling faces of the spectators and athletes involved.
Despite the very worn turf, training for the footballers will continue again next week, according to coach Oliver Risse.
Things will continue: Heiko Kesselmann, co-organiser of the tournament, has already announced another date.
Volleyball will take place again on the last weekend in February played not on the grass but on sand.
