The Nedbank CitiDash returns
Nedbank Namibia announced the return of its premier mass-participation event, the Nedbank CitiDash 2023, which promises to be an unparalleled experience for runners and the community alike.
Taking place on 10 September in the heart of the city, this event signifies the joy of interaction, the renewal of communal bonds, and shared experiences after the challenging silence of the Covid-19 pandemic.
With the support of professional race organisers, Cycletec and OTB Sport, the CitiDash guarantees to set the scenic streets of the capital city abuzz with excitement. Bringing together individuals, schools, and corporations.
This will be the third event of its kind, with Nedbank Namibia donating N$400 000 towards hosting it.
Speaking at the launch, Nedbank Namibia’s JG van Graan said, “Nedbank believes that running provides an opportunity to touch the lives of all Namibians. As a longstanding supporter of the sport, Nedbank is truly delighted to be the title sponsor of the third edition of the Nedbank CitiDash.”
The manager of OTB Sport, Yvonne Brinkmann, expressed her enthusiasm for the Nedbank CitiDash, and thanked all the sponsors. “Every year, this event brings us together in a way few others can. It's not just about the thrill of the race; it's about the shared spirit and camaraderie. It's a unique experience and one I’ve really been looking forward to. I can't wait to see the sense of community this year's race will foster.”
The 2 500 competitors in 2019 were a tremendous turnout, and race partners are certain that this year's CitiDash will be even more successful. With enhanced participation, fortified community spirit, and an elevated emphasis on health and wellness, the race is anticipated to surpass all expectations.
Family affair
The Nedbank CitiDash is a must-attend event, whether you're a dedicated runner, a racewalker, or just searching for the ideal family adventure. The event consists of a 5km and a 10km race. The starter’s gun goes off at 07:00. For elite runners participating in the 10km CitiDash, the qualifying time is set at 50 minutes.
“We believe that this exclusive race will again attract top-tier elite runners, enthusiastic and novice runners and walkers, and even families who are just looking to have a fun and active outing. We also believe that this year the Nedbank CitiDash will once again have one of the greatest line-ups that Namibia running has ever seen,” Van Graan said.
This year, the Nedbank CitiDash co-sponsors are Checkers, Ineos, iStore, NHP and Paratus.
Prize money of N$40 000 is up for grabs for the elite males and females, as well as the top u/18 male and female athletes, and the top visually impaired and wheelchair athletes, courtesy of Nedbank's generous sponsorship.
The 5km and 10km fun run entry fees are N$50, whereas the 10km elite run entry fee is N$250. Group entries exceeding 30 participants earn a discount, and online entry is possible via the CitiDash website (Nedbank Citi Dash | Facebook) or via PayToday Home (PayToday).
