CFC 1 and SKW 3 triumph at African Marketing Fistball National Cup 2025

The African Marketing Fistball National Cup Tournament 2025 concluded on Saturday at SFC, with favourites CFC 1 and SKW 3 securing victories in their respective categories.
In Category A, CFC 1 successfully defended their title in a thrilling final, while hosts SFC 1 finished as runners-up. The preliminary round followed a round-robin format, with matches decided over two winning sets. CFC 1 dominated, winning all four of their games to qualify directly for the final. SFC 1 finished second, setting up a semi-final clash against SKW 2, which they won 2-0. SKW 1 came fourth, and CFC 2 placed fifth after four defeats.
The final between CFC 1 and SFC 1, played under floodlights, proved to be a gripping encounter. CFC 1 initially took a 2-0 lead in sets and even held three set and match points in the third. However, SFC 1 staged a comeback, winning the third set 13-11 and the fourth 11-9, leveling the match. In the deciding set, SFC 1 fell behind 3-0 due to early service errors, allowing CFC 1 to secure an 11-5 win, marking their third consecutive final victory with a 3-2 scoreline.
In Category B, SFC 2 advanced directly to the final as winners of the preliminary round, while SKW 3 overcame CFC 3 in the semi-finals. The final was tightly contested, but SKW 3 emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over SFC 2, claiming their fifth title of the season. The Blue Ladies and Yellow Ladies took fourth and fifth places respectively, followed by SFC 3 in sixth.
Individual honours were awarded to outstanding performers: Perry Doberentz (SFC 1) was named Player of the Day in the adult category, Ilo Löhnert (SFC) as Youth Player of the Day, Cuan Ahrens (SKW) as Youth Player of the Year, Isabel von Wieterhseim (SKW) as Women’s Player of the Year, Karl-Heinz Traut (CFC) as Best Male Player, and the MVP trophy went to Michael Baas (SKW).
The next event, the Balla-Balla Tournament, is scheduled for 20 December.
