CFC 1, SKW 3 and SFC B take top honours at fistball tourney
The fourth tournament of the 2025 Namibian fistball season was held in Swakopmund on Saturday, hosted by SFC, delivering action-packed matches across all divisions.In the A Category, CFC 1 proved too strong for the competition, claiming the title after a dominant run through the group stages. They defeated CFC 2 3-0 in the semi-final, while hosts SFC 1 edged SKW 1 3-1 in a tense encounter to book their spot in the final. CFC 1 looked on course for a straight-sets win after taking the first two sets and leading 10-7 in the third, but SFC fought back to take it 13-11. CFC 1 then regained control to seal a 3-1 victory and the championship.
The B Category final saw SKW 3 maintain their dominance, beating clubmates SKW 2 to secure their third consecutive tournament win. SFC 2, who lost to SKW 2 in the semi-finals, went home with bronze.
In the U/18 Category, five youth teams battled it out in timed matches. SFC B went unbeaten to secure gold, with 2024 runners-up SKW A taking silver. CFC A, recording their first-ever wins over both SKW A and SKW B, claimed bronze. SFC A finished fourth, while SKW B took fifth place.
Individual accolades went to Alexander von Wietersheim (SFC) as Youth Player of the Day, while the Adult Player of the Day award was shared by Cuan Ahrens (SKW) and Hanjo Lorck (SFC).
The weekend’s action concluded with combined training sessions for the U/18, women’s and men’s squads on Sunday. The fifth tournament of the season is scheduled for 13 September at CFC.
