CFC 1, SKW 3 look to defend National Cup titles
The African Marketing Fistball National Cup takes place at SFC on Saturday (7 November), with defending champions CFC 1 and SKW 3 aiming to retain their titles in the A and B categories respectively.
CFC 1 return as A-category champions after edging hosts SFC 1 in last year’s final. They took a 2-0 lead in sets before SFC fought back to level the match at 2-2. CFC 1 eventually secured a 3-2 victory, winning the deciding set 11-5 after 90 minutes of play under floodlights.
CFC 1 have maintained their strong form, beating SFC 1 by three sets to nil in last month’s A League final. SFC 1 will be looking to avenge last year’s defeat, while SKW 1, SKW 2 and CFC 2 will also be challenging for the title.
In the B category, SKW 3 will be aiming for a sixth title after winning their fifth last year with a 3-1 victory in the final.
However, the competition is expected to be closely contested. SKW 4 beat the defending champions 3-1 in last month’s B League final, while SFC 2, who won last year’s preliminary round, will also be among the contenders.
With both titles up for grabs, the National Cup promises a competitive day of fistball as teams look to settle old scores and claim national honours.
