Fistballs flying this weekend

The atmosphere at the SKW sports grounds is set to be electric this weekend as the third fistball tournament of the 2025 season gets underway.
With 16 teams competing across four divisions, fans can look forward to a packed schedule of youth and senior matches showcasing Namibia’s top fistball talent.
The tournament, taking place at SKW in Windhoek, will feature teams in the A and B senior categories, alongside the U/13 and U/18 youth divisions. Junior matches will begin on Friday afternoon, with the first adult games kicking off at 08:30 on Saturday morning.
In the U/13 division, host club SKW will be represented by two teams, joined by a team from Cohen Fistball Club (CFC). The U/18 category will see fierce competition between SKW (two teams), Swakopmund Fistball Club (SFC), and CFC. At the previous tournament, SKW’s U/18 first team celebrated a well-earned victory.
Senior competition in the A division will feature two teams each from CFC and SKW, and one from SFC. Reigning champions CFC 1, winners of the opening and last two tournaments, enter the weekend as clear favourites. However, the youthful SFC 1 squad, who made a surprise appearance in the finals last time, their first in over 20 years, are aiming to replicate their historic run.
Category B will see two teams from SKW’s Green-White side take on visiting teams from SFC and CFC. SKW performed strongly in the previous tournament, placing all three of their teams on the podium – a feat they’ll look to repeat on home turf.
Beyond the weekend’s competition, Sunday will also see the extended men’s national squad hold a training session at SKW. The session forms part of preparations for the 2027 Fistball World Championship. Following Germany’s withdrawal as host, the International Fistball Association is now seeking a new venue for the global event.
Spectators are encouraged to come out in support of their local teams and enjoy a full weekend of fast-paced fistball action.
