Higher, faster, stronger

DHPS athletes at SA Sports Olympiad
On 13 and 14 March 2023, competition days 2 and 3 of the Sports Olympiad of German Schools in Southern Africa, the athletics competitions were on the agenda.
The athletes of the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) not only showed off their talents at the swimming competition the previous day but also their phenomenal athletic skills and extraordinary team spirit.
The following successes were achieved by the DHPS athletes:
• DHPS took the first spot in the competition group III category in long jump and came close to breaking a record in high jump: Max Krafft reached a height of 1.84 m, with the current Olympiad record being 1.89 m.
• In addition to the fantastic performance of the jumpers, the Namibian runners showed off their talent. The positioning of the runners was always in the top three. Under-16 runner Nathan Mungunda won his 800 m run and DHPS also scored a victory in the girl’s relay final.
Yesterday and today (15 & 16 March), the team competes against the other participating German schools from South Africa, namely German School Cape Town, Hermannsburg, Johannesburg and Pretoria, in the ball games (soccer, basketball, volleyball, handball).
From this side, the DHPS is keeping their fingers crossed and wishes the young Namibian athletes all the best and continued sporting achievements and amazing team moments.
