Bank Windhoek’s Bronwyn Moody said the bank’s support for golf is encouraged by the unique combination of the sport’s physical and mental benefits. “Golf improves motivation and allows for meaningful social and business networking opportunities. By partnering with the Windhoek Golf Club, Bank Windhoek creates sustainable relationships within communities and sees them collaborate to improve their communities,” she said.
Windhoek Golf Club captain Gustav Jung applauded all participants for the great turnout throughout the day. He thanked Bank Windhoek for its repeated sponsorship of the Cup. “Support towards golf events in Namibia is vital to attract participation and contributes to the overall development of golf,” he said.
Laban Malule, who has been playing for 26 years, and Lovisa Vilho, who has been playing for around four years, won the Cup last weekend.
Malule said that although this was not his first time winning a cup or tournament, “winning is always an overwhelming feeling. We went out there to have fun, not knowing we would win the competition.”
He added that a good golfer continues to practice the sport and always applies golf etiquette.
Vilho said winning feels great. “This competition put me under pressure, seeing that we had to play off 75% of our normal handicap. However, I loved the pressure and prizes awarded to motivate players. The competition is memorable because I made my first birdie here,” she said.
The club will host a four-day Easter Cup individual Stapleford competition this weekend. The best of two rounds will win the tournament.
