Ongoing renovations at Sam Nujoma stadium

Major renovation work at the Sam Nujoma Stadium is moving into structural phase, with contractors currently carrying out construction activities at the open stands.
The refurbishment project, which officially started late last year, began with the removal of concrete stairs located behind the open stands as well as large sections of concrete slabs. These works are intended to prepare the area for more extensive repairs aimed at improving the stadium’s long-term safety and durability.
In the next stage of the project, seating panels will be dismantled to allow access beneath the stands. Contractors will then install bolts and nuts as part of the structural reinforcement process, ensuring the stability of the seating areas once reconstruction is completed.
Pasanapehe Muvangua, the site agent representing New Success Investment, said the project was progressing according to plan. He indicated that construction teams have not encountered any significant obstacles and remain focused on meeting the agreed timelines.
Renovations at the stadium are scheduled for completion in October 2026 , in accordance with the contractual agreement. The upgrade forms part of ongoing municipal efforts to modernise sports infrastructure and improve safety conditions for athletes and spectators.
