Top positions for DHPS Olympiad team

Three hundred teenagers and teachers, five schools, six days full of top sports performances, touching moments within and across teams, and an amazing atmosphere: This is what the 18th Sports Olympiad of German Schools in Southern Africa from 11 to 16 March 2023 at the German School in Johannesburg (DSJ) was all about.
In addition to the hosts, sports teams from German schools in South Africa as well as the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) took part in this major sports event.
Besides the many gripping moments, broken records and new friendships, a healthy competitive spirit also reigned.
The DHPS team, consisting of learners from grade 7 to 12, delivered some impressive results:
On the first competition day, all DHPS swimmers achieved medals and even broke a number of records. During the athletic competitions on day 2, the Namibian teenagers again showed their phenomenal talent and team spirit, ranking first in long and high jump (competition group III) while the runners achieved various podium positions.
In the ball games (basketball, volleyball, soccer and handball) on the 4th and 5th competition days, the DHPS players again showed delivered impressive results.
After these amazing performances, it was no surprise that the DHPS emerged as the winners in swimming, athletics as well as boys and girls basketball. Furthermore, the award for the best athletes of the Sports Olympiad 2023 also went to the DHPS: Nora Schlabitz (grade 8) was chosen as victrix ludorum while Max Krafft (grade 11) was awarded the victor ludorum title.
