AI-powered innovations take centre stage

The energy of innovation was on full display at CcHUB Namibia earlier this month, as nine of Namibia’s most promising innovators pitched their groundbreaking solutions during the Seedr Namibia 2.0: AI Edition Demo Day.
Structured around two tracks, Seedr Namibia 2.0 provided a platform for both students and researchers from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Track A) and early-stage start-ups from across Namibia (Track B) to develop impactful solutions in education, healthcare, and the creative economy.
After weeks of mentorship, design sprints and preparation, three student teams and six start-ups took the stage to present their work to a panel of expert judges from across the innovation ecosystem, who selected two standout winners:
• Axon AI, which develops an AI-powered system to accelerate laboratory diagnostics, enabling faster and more accurate medical testing; and
• Okaluli, which expands access to generative AI-powered educational tools for underserved communities without reliable broadband connectivity.
Both teams secured a US$5 000 SAFE investment, while Okaluli also received an additional US$5 000 from the Seed Capital Fund of Namibia.
The winning teams will now enter a 3-month incubation programme, where they will refine their products, acquire customers, and work toward achieving critical milestones relevant to their innovations. This next phase is designed to help innovators translate their ideas into solutions that can transform communities across Namibia and beyond.
Launched in July 2025, Seedr Namibia 2.0 builds on the success of the original Seedr Namibia programme introduced in 2021 by CcHUB Namibia and Startup Namibia. With its focus on AI-driven innovation, the programme empowers students, researchers and start-ups to develop scalable solutions to some of Namibia’s most pressing challenges, reflecting CcHUB Namibia’s mission to accelerate the application of social capital and technology for Africa’s economic prosperity.
