Irresponsible behaviour in Etosha

Once again, visitors to Etosha National Park alighted from their rental cars and thought they were safe. These photos caused the usual outrage at the personal risk taken. Opinions differ about such repeated offences in Namibian national parks where lions, elephants, leopards and other wild animals roam freely. “It's a shame there wasn't a lion nearby to roar,” was one of the comments on social media. After the remains of a shod leg were found in a park in Botswana last year, one observer said: “What these people don't understand is that if this goes wrong, the lion will be shot as a 'man-eating animal'! “That being said, the tourism sector suffers because inevitably some visitors cancel their trips after such a tragedy because they believe the park is unsafe.”
