Upgrades carried out at Mile 108 and Sossus Dune Lodge cost Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) N$3.5 million.
NWR installed six new ablution blocks at Mile 108 - just in time for the start of the fishing season. NWR's spokesperson, Nelson Ashipala, provided the latest information on some of the projects, saying they also had to upgrade the fishermen's cottages at Mile 108 because the elements around the coastal area usually become a challenge.
Ashipala said they were able to renovate many of the fishermen's huts and were able to install six ablution facilities. According to him, this means that many of the fishermen will now be able to make use of newer facilities when the fishing season begins. The cost of these upgrades was around N$2.3 million.
The rest of the money was used for upgrades at Sossus Dune Lodge, where a new deck was installed at the pool. Ashipala said it was also because the elements had begun to weather the wooden decks. Environmentally friendly materials have been used to bring the decks up to standard.
