A wet and cold welcome to Namibia
On Tuesday morning, a group of passengers who had just landed at Hosea Kutako International Airport from Germany got the fright of their lives.Around 15 passengers who walked across the runway to the airport building were literally greeted with a stream of ice-cold water that poured from an uncontrolled fire hose on a fire truck.
The passengers were soaked from head to toe, as was their hand luggage, and they were forced to wait for their luggage to continue their visit with dry clothes.
According to a tour operator, airport staff did not rush to help any of the soaking wet passengers. They were, however, allowed priority at the baggage claim.
Namibia Airports Company (NAC) spokesperson Dan Kamati said the incident occurred during a daily rescue and firefighting session and apart from the wet passengers and luggage, no one was injured.
According to Kamati, an apology was made for the inconvenience caused. However, he denies that the passengers did not receive assistance. – [email protected]
