Rain, frost and icy weather

While there is snow in parts of South Africa, a cold front from the neighbouring country has brought wintry rain, frost and chilly temperatures to Namibia.
More frost is forecast for early this morning, except in the far north, according to a weather watch from the Namibian Meteorological Services. The public, small livestock farmers and nurseries are advised to take the necessary precautions.
Otherwise it will be sunny and very cold to moderate, but warm to hot in the far north.
Yesterday morning chilly temperatures were reported in the East with -9ºC at Epukiro Omuramba, -8.7ºC on the farm Ombuerendende north of Omitara and -7ºC along the White Nossob River where the farmer described it as “two underpants time”.
In the Gobabis district, farmers said their mangers were frozen, but just east of Windhoek at the Finkenstein estate -7 ºC was also measured and south of Windhoek at the Omeya golf estate -6 ºC. On the farm Onverwacht, 20 km southeast of Dordabis, it was -5 °C.
At Okahandja it was frosty with -4.3 °C on the thermometer.
On the farm Keizen between Steinhausen and Summerdown, frost lay everywhere and the temperature measured -3.5 ºC, -3.2 ºC at Aranos and -3 ºC at Maltahöhe .
In the South it was also below freezing with 1 ºC at Mariental, Gochas and Stampriet.
At Rosh Pinah it rained 17 mm over the weekend, 10 mm at Grünau and in the area of ​​Helmeringhausen between 6 mm and 8 mm.
Light rain also fell at Lüderitz, Keetmanshoop, Oranjemund and the Aroab area.
Snow has fallen in Lesotho and South Africa in the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, southern Free State and KwaZulu-Natal with several mountain passes to be closed in these provinces today. – [email protected]
