Bridging the financial (youth) gap

Nedbank Namibia held their very first youth summit hosted under the theme “Bridging the Gap” and aimed at linking young entrepreneurs with financial information as well as products and services that can benefit and help propel businesses within the youth segment.
Furthermore, the purpose was to uplift, develop and unlock the potential of young Namibian entrepreneurs.
The event was designed to be an exchange of information and experiences and saw several young Namibian entrepreneurs take on the stage to discuss some of their experiences as young entrepreneurs in the different panel discussions. The discussions included topics that covered creative entrepreneurs, influencer marketing, technology development and other FinTech opportunities.
Some of the speakers included CJ the Connect, Beatrice Masilingi, Maria Nepambe and Hage Mukwendje.
As part of the summit, young entrepreneurs were also allowed to showcase their businesses to the attendees.
Nedbank Head of SME (Small Medium Enterprises) Banking, Sam Ikela; Head of Private Banking, Rosy Eixas; as well as the Central and Coastal Regional Manager, Nicolas Christians provided attendees with financial information, products and services geared towards young entrepreneurs.
Speaking about the event Nedbank Namibia’s Communication and PR Manager, Selma Kaulinge said that the purpose of the summit was to shine a spotlight on young entrepreneurs who are using their talents to create unique businesses which serve their communities.
“Through this summit, Nedbank has reinforced that it is committed to the development of the youth segment and continues to provide resources for the betterment of the country at large,” she said.
“We are extremely happy with the turnout and success of this first summit and we have seen the diverse potential Namibian youth entrepreneurs have. We intend to make it an annual event and take it to the other regions of Namibia.”
