European Union gives young Namibians a voice

The European Union (EU) set up the Youth Sounding Board (YSB) at the EU residence in Namibia on Wednesday.
From more than 200 applications, 25 young people involved in youth work were selected as members, who will serve in the office of the youth advisory board for twelve months. The YSB will serve as a knowledge hub for the EU and YSB members to exchange information and ideas. It aims to keep the EU Delegation informed of the most important issues for young people, emerging trends, opportunities and constraints.
Members have knowledge, experience or demonstrated interest in one or more areas such as education, entrepreneurship, green and digital transition, social inclusion and health, good governance, sport, culture and arts.
"One of the aims is to give young people the opportunity to participate in the development and implementation of the EU programme and policies in Namibia and to help ensure that young people's voices are heard and taken into account," explained EU Ambassador of Namibia, Sinikka Antila. "The Youth Council has been set up in 15 African-Caribbean-Pacific (ACPC) countries and it is important that Namibia becomes part of these countries to provide new opportunities for the youth. We are counting on the YSB to use all their experience to help us with this."
