Hope and smiles to the children

What began in 2015 as a simple act of compassion has grown into a lifeline for hundreds of children across Windhoek.Omne Jesus Guzman Acevedo launched the omneGospel Outreach Programme after witnessing the daily struggles of children in the Havana community, many of whom were going without food, care and meaningful mentorship
Driven by compassion and faith in God’s transformative love, Pastor Omne’s mission was to invest in the lives of the most vulnerable, one act of kindness at a time. “Every child deserves hope and the chance to grow in a safe and nurturing environment” said Omne. This philosophy continues to guide the organisation today.
Currently, the outreach programme is operated by a dedicated team of seven volunteers, each contributing their time, skills and energy to the mission. From its humble beginnings in a family home, the organisation has grown to operate from a dedicated facility, providing structured activities, meals and spiritual and emotional support services to the children it serves. Plans are already underway to expand the facility, allowing more children to benefit from the programme and additional weekly activities.
"I would like to call on government authorities and people in general to help us ease the burden faced by communities in need by supporting poor families with basic maintenance and education costs" said Volly James the acting director of omneGospel Outreach Programme. James stated that the support will enable young people to continue their academic journey without interruption, develop valuable skills and strengthen their ability to make a lasting and positive contribution to the country’s economy in the years to come.
In its early days, the programme faced significant obstacles. Funding was scarce and community engagement was initially low, as families struggled under the pressures of daily survival. Yet, through faith, perseverance and community support, the programme endured, slowly building a foundation of trust and hope within the community.
He describes the early work as “an investment of love,” rooted in the belief that small beginnings can yield great impact.
Today, the programme serves an average of 100 children every Saturday, offering nutritious meals, mentorship and a safe space for engagement and encouragement. Each year, the omneGospel Outreach Programme hosts a large-scale community event, bringing together nearly 1 000 children in celebration, joy and fellowship at venues .
Despite its growth, the programme continues to rely on external support. Funding is needed to expand and upgrade facilities, improve child safety and enhance the feeding and care programmes. Volunteers passionate about mentoring, administration, and community engagement are always welcome, as are donations of food and support for operational costs such as utilities. These contributions help ensure that every child receives the care and nourishment they deserve, beyond the weekly Saturday meal.
As the omneGospel Outreach Programme continues to expand, its message remains simple: through faith, love and community, every child can experience a brighter future. The organisation welcomes supporters, partners, and volunteers to join in this life-changing work, ensuring that no child is left behind one meal, one smile and one act of kindness at a time.
